Setting Up Your Media Players
In order for AudioAlien to work correctly, you must first specify what media player(s) you would like to use, as well as where your media collection(s) are located, and how you have your files named. AudioAlien uses your music filenames to determine Artist/Album/Song/Track Number information for each file in your collection. ID3 tag support is planned for future releases. Let me know if ID3 tag support interests you!
To set up your media players, click on the "Media
Players" tab within AudioAlien Properties. The first thing to do is tell
AudioAlien what media players you would like to use. If this is your first
time running AudioAlien, and you have Nullsoft's
Winamp Media Player installed on your computer, AudioAlien will attempt to
locate Winamp and add it to your list of Media Players. You can add
additional media players by pressing the new button
and browsing to the media player on
your computer. After browsing to the media player, it is necessary to
enter the file extensions to be executed using this program. You can enter
as many file extensions as necessary, following each one with a comma. Ex:
*.mp3, *.m3u, *.avi, etc. the "Launch Parameters" field can usually be
left blank unless the program you are using requires any special parameters to
tell it to play a file immediately. If your media player supports a
playlist such as Winamp, you can enter the necessary parameters to instruct the
program to add a file to the playlist in the "Enqueue File Parameters" section.
This parameter will usually be /ADD, and will be used whenever you use
AudioAlien to enqueue a file rather than play it immediately.
